---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RULES
All
games will be played under the rules of the National Federation of High School Basketball with the following noted exceptions:
- Coaches and team managers are responsible
for the behavior of their parents and spectators. Please share these rules with them.
- Enjoy the tournament and display good sportsmanship. Respect the game, your team and your opponents.
- Please keep all cheering in a positive manner and show good sportsmanship. Please cheer
“for” your team. Please do not cheer “against” the opposing team (For example: Don’t yell
“miss it” when the opposing team is shooting the ball, or don’t cheer when a player on the opposing team
is called for a traveling violation, makes a bad pass etc.).
- No bouncing
of balls on the sidelines while games are in progress is permitted. Please keep young children from running through the
facilities. Everyone (especially young children) must remain in the gym during the games.
- There will be no whining, berating, fighting, offensive/unsportsmanlike conduct, foul language or swearing. These
acts will not be tolerated whether during the game or afterwards. Anyone breaking these rules faces a technical foul, possible
disqualification from the tournament and a potential fine. Our officials have been instructed to have “zero tolerance”
for misconduct by teams and spectators.
- Any player, coach or spectator
ejected from a game will not be allowed to participate in the remainder of the tournament.
- The home team must provide someone to do the scorebook at the score table. Someone will be provided to run the clock.
- Team jerseys must be matching and teams are not allowed to put tape on the jerseys to
alter numbers. Teams must have jerseys with a number on at least the back and must have an alternate color (dark/light).
We ask that your players wear matching shorts. Please respect the game by looking “sharp” as a team.
- Boys 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th will use a 29.5 size ball (high school regulation boys' size). Boys 4th, Boys 5th and
Girls will use a 28.5 size ball (high school regulation girls' size). Teams will need to provide a ball for the game. Teams
are responsible for playing with the correct size.
- Players are only
permitted to play on one team per division. Players are allowed to play up a grade and play on more than one team. Players
are never allowed to play down a grade.
- Clock will
stop on all dead ball situations. Exception: If the point margin is 15 or more points in the 4th quarter, the clock will
not stop on any dead balls.
- Pressing full court is not allowed with a
lead of 20 or more points. Coaches: this concept of sportsmanship should go without saying.
- 8 minute quarters, 3 minute half-time, 1 minute between each quarter.
- Each team is allowed 3 “Full” and 2 “30-second” timeouts per game.
- Overtimes will be two minutes long and will start with a jump ball.
Each team will be given one 30-second timeout for the overtime period. Unused time-outs will not carry over.
- Teams must have a minimum of four players to start a game. Teams are allowed a five-minute
grace period if four players have not arrived.
- Home team is the team listed
second on the schedule. Home team may choose their jersey color (dark or light).
- Free Throws:
3rd/4th Boys and 5th/6th Girls will be allowed to cross the free throw line as their momentum reasonably
carries them from shooting the ball. They are not allowed to go beyond what their momentum takes them until
the ball hits the rim.
